Resetting a Mac Password Without a Master Password
If you've forgotten your Mac password and do not have access to a master password, there are still ways to regain access to your account. Follow these steps to reset your Mac password without a master password:
- Restart your Mac and hold down Command + R as it boots up to enter Recovery Mode.
- From the Utilities menu, select Terminal.
- In the Terminal window, type 'resetpassword' and press Enter.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to select the drive that contains your user account and choose the user account you want to reset the password for.
- Enter a new password and password hint, then click 'Save.'
